SIMONTON

A re-designed frame and modified sash on the Asure line of replacement windows and doors allows more light into the home, the manufacturer states. From Simonton Windows, the new line also features a reverse brickmould frame on the exterior to provide an enhanced, attractive architectural finish, with clean corner welds and a smooth exterior construction to complete the stylish look. A two "stepped" sill design provides for better resistance to water and air infiltration, with the sill chambers adding strength and durability, the manufacturer reports. The line can be ordered with design pressure ratings of up to 50, with the new window incorporating a triplestepped sill when DP ratings from 35 to 50 are selected. EASTMAN

Leveraging the company's 80-year history in acetylation, Perennial Wood is real wood modified to resist changes from moisture, such as shrinking, swelling and movement. From Eastman Chemical, TruLast Technology permanently transforms the wood's cellular structure throughout by using heat, pressure and an organic compound to replace the water-loving (hydrophilic) groups in the wood's cells with water-hating (hydrophobic) groups, the supplier explains. The product remains straighter, smoother and harder, while maintaining the wood's natural appearance. Introduced for decking, the wood is also offered to manufacturers of windows and doors and other outdoor products. 800/530-7495 | www.perennialwood.com

GERKIN

A real wood poplar veneer interior is now offered on Comfort Series 4300 casement and 4700 fixed windows from Gerkin Windows & Doors. The veneer enables customers to stain or paint their windows in order to match interior trim and casing. With 21 chambers of fusion-welded vinyl, the casement offers uncommon strength, warmth and overall longterm performance characteristics and is sealed with two heavy compression bulbs and a third secondary exterior seal that seals out the weather before the interior compression seals even have to work, the manufacturer states. A multipoint lock system along with interlocking hinge side locks help ensure the tightest possible full perimeter seal. The window combines all the durability, efficiency and the warmth of vinyl with the beauty of wood. 712/490-5301 | www.gerkin.com

This operator advances the blind the entire length of the doorlite with minimal travel and tilts the blind with the slightest movement. Privacy channels on each side also eliminate light gaps when the blinds are closed. Light-Touch blinds achieve compliance with upgraded codes and stringent Energy Star requirements, adding measurable value for both builders and homebuyers, it is noted. 800/253-3900 | www.odl.com
