³ MEETINGS & EVENTS —What’s on Display in Las Vegas TRUTH Being able to safely and securely operate a window with safe guards in place to help control the windows opening so as to pre-vent accidental falls, while at the same time being able to be eas-ily opened for egress purposes in case of an emergency, is critical in today’s building projects. While com-ponents have been introduced previ-ously for hung/sliding windows, Truth Hardware’s SafeGard window opening control device is said to be the first to provide a solution for casement windows. Reliable, easy to install and easy to operate, the hardware meets today’s more stringent safety requirements such as ASTM F2090-10. Also being featured is the High Performance Hinge, which can support a 140-pound sash to allow manufacturers to use triple pane and laminated glass packages in larger windows. To be featured by Wood’s Powr-Grip, the lifting device draws windows directly into their openings, while eliminating the need for workers to carry bulky windows through buildings or balance them from ladders during installation or removal, the company re-ports. Increasing productivity and worker safety while re-ducing damage and extra work, the lightweight, portable device handles windows up to 220 pounds and accom-modates window openings up to 27 feet off the ground. Optional accessories accommodate varying installation challenges, such as shallow reveals and check reveals, as well as raked head frames or floor mounted applications. At GlassBuild, Veka Inc. will feature new innovations that could be one of the first big steps towards offsetting the cost of a window in a home or building. The company will also highlight the Pinnacle color platform, a series of 23 colored and woodgrain laminates for the interior and exterior of its vinyl profiles. The lifelike surfaces fulfill AAMA 307 and 303 test requirements for superior performing laminated profiles, the company reports. The laminate surface is also resistant to abrasion, mortar, detergents, chemicals and demonstrates superior performance and low heat build-up in areas of high incident solar radiation such as the Southwest desert, it notes. Five exterior and 12 interior woodgrain options offer a natural appearance in color, texture and richness. Eleven enhanced color laminates feature a pebble matte finish that looks good on window and door interiors and exteriors.
