What’s New
in Vinyl Patio Doors
Recent introductions offer new functionality, as well as higher performance and more design options
SOFT-LITE
Designed for comfort and durability, the Elements Thermal Glide Door
combines high performance features with a variety of designer options.
A fiberglass sill holds up well to traffic for many years, and, because
it’s not metal, won’t conduct cold, which makes the door more energy
efficient, the manufacturer notes. Fusion-welded sash have reinforced
stiles with .065 mm treated aluminum, while the vinyl walls of the sash
and frame extrusions are also very thick at .080 mm, it is noted. Other
features include Allerguard weatherstripping that incorporates a biocide
to fight against mold, mildew and bacterial growth between the fibers,
as well as a sliding screen door with heavy duty extruded aluminum and
mitered corners to resists twisting, warping and rack jumping. From Soft-Lite, all doors are placed in a jig prior to
shipment to ensure that it rolls, closes, and locks smoothly. Two panel doors are shipped assembled. The doors
come standard with a one-point locking mechanism and an optional four-point multi-directional locking system
upgrade. Decorative choices include numerous hardware finishes, exterior and interior laminates and colors, and
a choice of flat and contour grids.
